Salary: $16.00/hr + commensurate with experience 233-day work calendar for 24-25 school year. Under the supervision of the Director of School Operations (“DSO”), the Lead Maintenance Technician (“LMT”) provides oversight, management and direction to maintenance technicians and custodians housed in Fort Worth. This position exercises individual knowledge and technical skill to support and maintain the overall appearance and performance all district facilities located in Dallas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned by the DSO. • Ensures the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance of facilities and grounds • Regularly inspects building exterior, interior, playground equipment and grounds to ensure the safety of all structures and equipment. • Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and events. Also conducts and manages off-site maintenance related errands, as assigned. • Plans and oversees all custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. • Prepares daily, quarterly, and semi-annual cleaning schedules of campus facilities as well as work schedules for the custodial staff. • Assists in the selection and assignment of members of the custodial staff. • Responsible for managing timecards of direct reports. e.g approving time off, editing time punches, submitting timecards weekly, etc. • Conducts routine campus cleaning audits to ensure proper protocols are followed around safety and cleanliness. • Receives/takes inventory and orders campus cleaning supplies. • Helps custodian with any major campus projects or cleaning initiatives. • Coaches and Trains custodian on proper cleaning of restrooms, classrooms, common areas, cafeterias, etc. • Inputs maintenance facility ticket for any repairs uncovered during campus walks or from communication from campus custodian or campus staff. • Fields complaints from campus staff and administration concerning daily campus cleaning or night crew cleaning. • Develops a good working rapport with students, staff, administration, night crew representative and all stakeholders of the district. • May be required to perform miscellaneous maintenance work such as touch up painting, stripping and waxing of floors, etc. • When custodians are absent or there is a vacant position, LMT will fill in and provide campus cleaning. • Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures around cleaning and maintenance. • Operate a variety of custodial equipment. • May perform carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, and any other work pertaining to wood structures. • May perform painting (including removing old paint, preparing surface for painting, filling holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty, or plaster) • May perform plumbing, heating, and air conditioning work in repairing furnaces, duct work, air conditioners, piping, instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities, or any other related work requiring these skills Skills/Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 75-100 pounds. Requirements: •Minimum of five (5) years of full-time, wage earning experience in general maintenance, construction or related area. Completion of equivalent technical or trade school course may be substituted for two (2) years of the required vocational experience. • Knowledge of maintenance techniques and procedures, including the ability to interpret electrical prints, diagrams, schematics and to make arithmetic calculations required. • Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely required. • Desired Certifications: OSHA training, technical certifications (Example: EPA license for refrigeration and A/C). • Ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle on public roads in Texas.
